Alan Wayne Myers died on May 6th, 2009.

Alan Wayne Myers was born December 29, 1942 in Hutchinson, Kansas.  Relocating to Oregon as a young man in the mid-fifties, he graduated from Tillamook High School in 1961.

After graduation, he served four years in the Navy and then went on to earn a B.S. degree in education at Oregon College of Education, now Western Oregon University.

Alan taught art and drama at Cave Junction High School, Oregon College of Education, and Clackamas Community College.  He was very interested in Chinese medicine, and studied to become a herbal medicine and acupuncture practitioner.

Alan's great passion, however, was his art.  Alan enjoyed an active career as a ceramic and stoneware artist and his work became well known throughout the region.

He held a great love for the State of Oregon and all the outdoor activities it has to offer, especially hiking and fishing.

Alan was married twice to Latrelle Miller and Marcia Burbidge, and is survived by two sons, Barry Myers of Mollala and Damon Myers of Brooklyn, New York.  Alan leaves behind a large and loving extended family including his mother Juanita Myers, his brother Roger Duffey, niece Elizabeth Heuberger, sister Ann Anderson, nephew Tyler Brost, grandchildren JJ and Atrayu Myers, and great-grandson Malachi Myers.  A celebration of his life was held on June 28th, 2009 at Niagara Park on the Santiam River. Alan's ashes were spread, and friends gathered to remember his life and work. He will be missed.

Another poem written by Alan
several years ago...

The Birds in the early
Morning Piss me off!
So loud, so eager to meet
the Dawn.
So loud, why are they so
happy?
Maybe a mate, Maybe a
Worm.
